That I was given the opportunity to design a series of walls on various yachts was rather coincidental. Attending a meeting with paint still on your hands can, in fact, have quite positive outcomes.

Could you take a look at what we could do with this wall? Would one of your swimmer motifs be suitable? Yes. The swimmers always make a strong impression—simply through their scale. But the Underwater Circumnavigation series is also perfectly suited for transferring onto walls.

The walls on yachts are quite different from those I paint in houses. They are almost always made of plastic or stone, though usually smooth.

But that’s just a technical difference. Otherwise, they offer wonderful space for a deeply personal touch—like reflecting the eye of a loved one in the eye of a fish, or subtly hiding names and dates within the composition. Wall painting on yachts is a blend of playfulness and image branding, and both can be combined perfectly.

As is often the case with large yachts, the owners prefer not to have the interiors of their vessels appear too often in the media. Since I can only show what I’ve created, the names of the yachts will remain undisclosed.
